The MWX xylophone was designed for beginning students. This is a considerable upgrade from traditional bell kits, allowing 2 octave scales and 3 octave reading while promoting good technique.
While the xylophone is traditionally tuned 1 octave higher than the marimba, we tune ours down to the written octave - it's easier on your ears!

Restringing Instructions
The MPM is an impressive instrument that was conceived by professional percussionist , for use by students of all ages. The high-quality tuning and craftsmanship of this instrument has set a new standard for this mid-level instrument market. The MPM may be used as a step-up from the MWX, but many band directors choose this as the first and only instrument for their students 6th-8th grades. It is so useful that many high school students keep it for home practice of state audition music. Virtually all 2-mallet audition music fits on this instrument and all scales can be played in at least 2 octaves.
